We recently went to the provincial home school convention this past weekend, and we arrived a day early to have some time for ourselves. The next morning my hubby had gone down to the gift shop early in the morning to see if they had a hair brush, cause I forgot mine, and I had just had a shower. On the way back up in the elevator there was someone else going up as well. It was one of the Prime Ministers guys, all dressed up in what you'd expect them to be dressed up ( in suits and they even had the ear piece in with the coiled cord going into their jackets!) He said to hubby, "You can tell your friends you stayed in the same hotel the Prime Minister did"
He came and told me this, at first I didn't believe him, but then immediately though we need to go, downstairs, and stalk the entry way, and wait for him to leave. We were going out anyways, to go shopping, so off we went. After a few minutes of waiting and seeing no action, we decided to go have breakfast, and hope that he didn't leave in the meantime. After we were done, we came back and all his 'goons' were still hanging around, and looking a little more aware than before. So we assumed the PM must be coming. And he did!! I saw him walk out of the elevator into the vehicle waiting for him. There were about 6 or so black vehicles, and a police car on either end of the motorcade.
We didn't think we'd see him again all day, but his peeps were still hanging out, so we assumed he was still there.
After we registered for the convention, we met up with some friends and went to the restaurant in the hotel. They had a buffet for lunch, the guys partook in that, and me and my friend ordered off the menu. After we ordered, there was a big group of people walking towards the restaurant, all dressed in suits. It was the Prime Minister himself, with all his guys (probably 6-8 guys or more) and they were entering the restaurant. They were seated off towards the back, and after a minute or so, they got up to enter the buffet line! My husband was at the buffet at the same time, and didn't even notice until he came back to sit down and we told him. It was all so surreal.
After about 25 minutes or so, people started going over there and shaking his hand and talking to him. And the guys at our table went to go as well, but were told after they got to the line, that he was still eating, and there would be time after to talk to him. Well, we waited, not long either, we had time before our first session started. And then he was on the move again. The guys got up and went to shake his hand, and were on their way back to our table when this guy said "Hey Mike" And it was an old high school friend who graduated with my husbands younger brother. He's the Director of Communication for the PM. Hubby called me over and he introduced me. Then he asked if we wanted our picture taken with the PM, we never had a chance to say yes or no, we shook the PM's hand again, and the guy from high school told the PM that they went to the same school, the PM was trying to think of this other guy that he worked with from the town where my hubby is from, and the picture was taken...and off he went, shaking more hands!
Wild, and surreal!! They gave us a card to have the picture emailed to us, so we are waiting for it to be sent! I do however really regret not taking a second and asking the PM if our friends could have their picture taken with him as well. My husband later the next day says he wished he would have asked "Boxers or Briefs?" Goof!
Anyways, that's the rest of the story!!

Sabian`
Is home!! We picked him up yesterday, and he is doing good. Walks a little funny, his backside looks a little funny, but he's our kitty, and he's home! His backside was shaved for surgery, and they had to cut pretty much all the tail off, so it looks rather gross. We have to give him antibiotics for a few days, and Michael has to clean the area, but he will be ok!! Thank Goodness. If I get around to taking a picture of his backside, then I will share, but until then, you just have to imagine ;)
I am off to a women's retreat this weekend!! I am soooo excited! I thought I wouldn't be able to go, but we got a little surprise, and I decided it was best for me to go! My mom is coming with! It is 3 hours north of the city we live in, and we will be riding in a bus, with supper aboard! I've been on this retreat before, the place is just lovely!! Shekinah Retreat Centre <-- take a look for yourself, but imagine lots of snow!! haha
Have a great Family Day weekend, and enjoy your family!!

Our Kitty
On Sunday, our precious 12 yr old cat (64 in cat yrs) was run over by our new truck, well, his tail was anyways. We had some friends over, and the dads were going out to pick up some food for supper, and next thing I know, Noah came in saying daddy drove over Sabian. One of my worst fears since we moved him out there last April. The cat ran off, and we looked for a bit, but then ate supper. Immediately after supper our friends had to leave and we searched for him again, for 2 hours. Some of our neighbours/friends helped us look too for a little while, we searched peoples back yards (with permission) and couldn't find him anywhere, we weren't sure if he was going somewhere to die, or if he was just mad. So we came inside, and we got the kids ready for bed, and right when Noah was about to go to bed, he happened to look out our bedroom window, which faces the garage, and he saw kitty go into the garage, yah!! So we went out to look at him and discovered he was in fact back in his warm house we built for him. He wouldn't come out, so we decided to leave him for the night. The next day, hubby decided to take the day off to deal with kitty. We went out to the garage first thing, and he wasn't in his house...sigh...we did find him, after a few minutes of being worried. He looked like he wet himself, and he wouldn't drink, or eat his food, or snacks. We took him to the Dr, and they said, after they x-rayed his tail, that it was severed from his spine, and will need to be amputated....they kept him over night, cause they want to make sure that his bladder isn't ruptured, cause if it is, they will have to put him down :( It was a sad sad day at our house yesterday, today is a bit better, waiting to hear from the Dr if he has gone to the bathroom properly or if they think his bladder is ruptured. I will post again when I hear anything!

This is a picture of Sabian when he was suntanning on our van one day, he is such a mellow, laid back kitty!! He has lived with us for almost 12 yrs!! Everybody we talked to on Sunday, knew him, and anybody who'd walk by Sabian always stopped to pet him and comment on what a gorgeous cat he was!!!

Ho Hum...
There is nothing to write about...life is moving along at it's regular pace, FAST, and the kids are keeping busy with school, extra curricular activities, fighting and all the other usual sibling/kid things.
We have the homeschool convention coming up at the end of February in Saskatoon, we are leaving on Thursday and coming home on Saturday. We are excited about it, but also not excited. Noah will be missing his first hockey tournament, and Breanna will be missing a soccer game against two of her friends. But we already paid for the convention before we realized all this. I'm also looking at it as a little get-a-way for us, away from the everyday. So, I guess that will be fun!
Otherwise, there isn't anything else that I can think of that I need to, or would like to share...
No new pictures to share, cause I hate my camera, and haven't been taking many pictures with is and wish I could get a new one...even though this one is a new one, I just made a bad purchase.
sigh...I hope I will have some more to share at another time...
Oh, I found a picture, from back in December. I like this picture alot, the kids all hovered around watching the game on the DS. The do this alot, and I makes me happy inside!!

A few things to share...
Lets start off with a fresh new look for my Alexa, here she is looking ever so cute with some layers and bangs! She wanted to get bangs, and I figured why not, it's hair, and it will grow back! I'm hoping to go get a fresh new look this week, and to get rid of some grey hairs, blah...

I've taken up crocheting as a hobby, and all I can do is a few stitches and straight lines, I haven't tried anything else yet, these afghans took me a while to make, not the kids afghans, but the afghan I made for hubby and I, it is huge! But it was fun! Now I want to try to make something more fun, I'll keep you posted, reading crochet lingo is challenging!
For New Years eve we hung out at home, and Michael's mom has joined us for the last 7 years. So we played a game and watched t.v. and slowly took the kids to bed, no one made it past 11. I wanted to go to bed then too, but it was New years, you have to stay up till midnight. So we did, kissed, and hugged, watched a bit of tv and went to bed! Here is a picture of what we feasted on! YUMM-O
Emmalee turned 11 on New Years eve as well. We had fun filled day, we went for lunch, and to a movie, then it started to blizzard, just in time to get home and stay nice and warm. This is a card I made for Emmalee, part of it was made with my Christmas present, a cuttlebug, it is an embossing and die cut machine. I love it, I can't wait to make more projects! I also made that 2 yr calendar in the picture with my bind-it-all. I would have embellished the front more, but I kinda ran out of time, and you don't really look at the front anyway, right!
This past weekend, Cari, 2 of her kids, my mom, Noah and I went to visit my nanny is Theodore, at the care home she is staying in. It was so emotional. She is 10 years into Alzheimer's, and even though she can't speak straight sentences, just jibber jabber, she cried when my mom and her brother (nanny's oldest son) walked up to her in the dinning area. She loves children, and lightened up when she saw little Aubrie walking around, and she said Hi to me....And this picture was sooo touching, wow! Little Boedy, 1 month old, and my Nanny at 77.

Christmas is Over
I don't have alot to share, but I needed to update, cause I logged onto my site just now and I didn't realize what my last post was, and I don't want you all to have to look at my foot anymore.
Christmas was good to us all, of course. The kids were pretty happy to get their presents a day early, and I was happy to not have children waking up at 4 am on Christmas morning wanting to open presents. We opened presents on Christmas Eve morning. It was a fun day, hubby had the day off, so why not!! Then we could spend the whole day together, and not have to rush out the door to go to Christmas at the farm, which is what we usually do on Christmas morning. Doesn't give the kids much time to play with their stuff when we do that. We didn't tell them what we were doing (for obvious reasons), and they were pretty surprised.
It sure has been nice these last two weeks. Hubby has had a total of 9 days at home out of 14. It's been grand! I love having him here! Monday he's back to work, and I think that will be the day we get back to the books around here.
No new years resolutions made here, it's just something we've never gotten into. How bout you, any new years resolutions you'd like to share?
I didn't take many pictures over Christmas, I took more videos. If I find some worth sharing I will!!
Happy New Year, hope you have a wonderful 2009!!
