Sickness has hit our home

For the first time this winter, and it has hit hard. There is no vomiting, thank goodness, but alot of little hot bodies with high fevers and colds. Michael is being hit by the illness aswell. He has called in sick for Thursday...So far I haven't been affected, and sure hope I don't, but with all the snuggling and caring for the little ones, the chances are....well, I'm just not going to get sick...

My baby thought she felt better for like a minute today and wanted a chance to play a game on the computer, and I think someone knew she was not feeling well and wanted to comfort her.

I'm working hard on my little project still, but I made something for my husband in the meantime...it is called a chipboard coaster calendar. It took me about 4 hours from start to finish: Sorry the pictures are so bad, I was tired when I took them and I only posted a few of the months, not all 12.
I hope to have a picture of the other project I am making, maybe on the 13th when I put them together, cause sometimes my kids are reading over my shoulder and I don't want them to see what they are getting.
I am thankful we don't have much on this week, not like we normally do, but it's nice to just be at home. Althought to be honest, I am going batty. I hope to maybe find some inner energy for tomorrow 'cause a lot of things have been put off...and it's getting bad in here. Sigh....
Happy Days will be here again....pray for us! Thanks!

The birthday boy is now 7. We had a great time on his special day. We watched him open his presents, went for lunch, bowling and then we went to a few pet stores to find a new fish tank stand. Then spent the night cleaning and setting up the new fish tank area. We came to find out as we were cleaning the very stinky tank, that 3 of the fish had went on to fish heaven LOL One was Breanna's, she was quite sadned by it. So after Emmalee's game on Saturday we stopped by a store and got her a new fish! Her look was priceless when she saw her new fish! Now she loves her Breanna Star fish!!

I have a little before and after picture of my 7 yr old. The first picture is of him just after christmas, and this next one if of him today!! He got a little trim...he wanted it spikey at the front...but today he said he misses his hair cause he can't curl it in his finger....soooo sweet!

Yesterday after church, lunch, soccer game and hair cuts we had a Free Willy Marathon! We watched all three Free Willys. (I didn't know there was a third :-/) It was fun, and hubby made supper, even better ... Pizza and ceaser salad. It was yumm-o! We had lots of snuggles on the couches, with everyone taking a turn with mom and dad both!

Emmalee was sick yesterday with a fever, sneezes and a cough. Her fever has broke today, although she still is coughing and sneezing. She's on the mend! It has kind of been the first sickness this winter, I've been relieved, last winter was a bad winter with a lot of illness.

I'm working on a special project for valentines day for the kids, something I'm sure I will be working on for the next 2 weeks...here is a sample of what I am making: Chipboard Coaster Box After they are done I will post a picture of them!!

Birthdays

We all have them, and we all have a few that are back to back, or really close together, friends, family, whatever. This week I have 3 back to back, Son, Friend, Sister-in-law. I made 2 cards last night, and dove into my handmade card stash for the other one. My son is turning 7 tomorrow. We will be decorating for his birthday tonight and popped into the Party Store at the Golden Mile (GREAT STORE for party supplies for any age) and we got him Hockey themed things. He is getting quite interested in hockey, with no help from his daddy of course. Oh, I just remembered what I needed...wrapping paper...oops. Well, I hope we have some end of the roll stuff left somewhere.

My Sister in law's birthday is on Saturday, and she is 4 months older than me, so she is turning the big THREE O before me. So of course I had to make note of that in the card.

My Friend/neighbours birthday is in between the 2, and I won't mention how young she is, but we did get together tonight so I could give her the card I made. It was nice to get out and talk to another women, mother, wife, human....lol

So anyways, on with the cards....here are the
2 I made last night! I had put an order in last week with my stamping supplier, and was hoping I could make a birthday card using my new stuff, but it hasn't arrived yet, so I had to use my old new stuff.....lol
I used all the new in colour inks from the stampin up catty, and the fun stitched ribbon. I also got myself a handy dandy tool called a crop-a-dile and used that for the white eyelets in the corners! I embossed the celebrate in black embossing powder and punched the Enjoy your day with a 3/8 circle punch, and the center with a smaller circle punch. I had alot of fun with this card. I also used my 5 in 1 envelope template for the first time and stamped it aswell!
For this card I embossed the frog with black embossing powder, and the happy birthday too. I kept asking my husband, are there blue frogs, how bout black frogs? So if there aren't black frogs, there are now!! If you look closely, you'll notice that i wasn't doing a very good job with the stapler. I made a few mistakes, but he will enjoy is anyways I'm sure!
It is the CC98 for this week at SCS!
Off to decorate now that all the kidlets are in bed!

This & That & Grace

I went to a memorial today, of a baby that was still born. It was sad. Her name was Grace Ann. She was 34 weeks along and God took her to be with Him. That's one thing that is sooo hard to understand, WHY? The service was really good, and special. The Pastor read a letter the mom wrote to her baby, and a poem the dad wrote. Both were amazing, and I almost lost it then. But kept it in, mostly. Then at the end, another Pastor sang Amazing Grace. WOW. It was amazing, it was like it was written for her. So precious. I made this for the mom and dad -----> It was my very first painted/modpodged frame! It was so nice to make, and when I first started it I didn't have anyone in mind to give it to, but as I made it, I felt led to make it for the parents. I'm thrilled with the results, and plan on making more in the future.

It is tuesday already, it sure doesn't feel like it. Michael will get a break in the week, as he has thursday off, and we get to have a family fun day! We plan on spending the balmy day bowling, maybe skating if it isn't too warm, and eating out at Boston Pizza for lunch.

I had my niece here today, it was fun to have a little little one around, since my baby is claiming that she is all growed up now. :`(``` (that's me crying) My sister had an ultrasound, and all is well. Baby is growing perfectly. She didn't find out, and I know if she did she wouldn't tell me anyways...lol But I think it is another girl, Noah thinks it is a boy, and Michael thinks it is a girl. I haven't asked the others ;)

Until next time...

Amazing Grace
by John Newton 1779
Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas Grace that taught my heart to fear,
And Grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils, and snares
I have already come.
'Tis Grace hath brought me safe thus far
And Grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me.
His Word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.

When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we'd first begun.

It's the weekend already!!

This week flew by. It was a good week mind you! Yesterday we didn't do much for school. I got caught up in laundry, for today. I also got caught up with the dishes, again for today (that is my downfall).

We have soccer back to back today, 2 vehicles...I don't like that, I really don't. I want us all to be in the same vehicle, and going to the same games, at the same time, but oh well, better get used to it!

We have been banished from our school room for the last month because the rock tumbler Noah got for christmas is in there, tumbling away. And it isn't quiet :( It has kind of been frustrating, but the kids haven't seemed to complain. But as of Sunday, January 21st, we will be allowed to go back in there again!! That is the last day of the rock tumbler, and I CAN'T wait...finally...It will be a LONG time before we tumble rocks again, seriously.

I haven't been very good with the treadmill this week, I think I've only been on it once...I really enjoy going on it, it's just some days are better than others with time and such.

My new favorite game is monopoly! A friend of mine emailed me back at the beginning of January, and said she and her kids had a marathon monopoly game during the day and I thought that sounded like sooo much fun. So yesterday we played monopoly. We started out with all of us at the table early in the morning, and ended up with just me and Em late in the afternoon! It was soo much fun that I made Michael play with me after we put the kids to bed. Not sure if he had as much fun as me, 5 minutes after the game was over he was fast asleep in his usual position on the couch! (insert eyeroll icon here) I'm looking forward to maybe playing with a few of the kids again this afternoon after soccer!!

Have a Great Weekend!!

A funny little quote, that I truly enjoy!
**If you see a home school mom talking to herself, don't interupt, she's having a parent teacher conference!!**

I'm Exhausted!!

Today was a long day, a good day, but long. Phew, I'm glad it is nearly over. We had a really good day! I got up with hubby, read my bible, snuggled with kids as they slowly all crawled into my bed! We never get out of bed before 8:30 (shhhh, don't tell my hubby, by then he's been at work for an hr and a half) Had breakfast and school was started before 9am and EVERYONE got done this morning!!! I also finished painting my bigger chalk board in the school room and did some more organizing in there aswell (we've changed it around a little). This afternoon the girls got squeaky clean in the tub, and the older ones went outside for some fun in the sun & snow with the neighbours (first day out of the deep freeze). Then they came back in and went skating with daddy! They were gone for about an hour and a half, and while they were gone I got on the treadmill and had a shower, whooo hooo, it was sooo nice! I had the hot chocolate ready when they walked through the door and supper half done!

Supper was good too. I made Beef Taquitos and mozza sticks. The beef taquitos were soooo yummy, and I will for sure make them again, I got the recipe out of the Family Fun magazine.

It was such a good day, why can't everyday be like this!! Praying your day was good, and that you will have a great rest of the week!

A simple card, for a not so simple situation

I'm sharing a simple card I made today, I can't upload it onto the site I always go to (no upload sundays), so I thought I would share it here! I got my colour inspiration from the ribbon!
This card is for a woman whom I met last year at a women's retreat, and have got to know a little in the last year. This woman was expecting a baby, and was about 6 weeks from her due date, and had a baby girl, still born. I wanted to send her a card to let her know she was in my thoughts and prayers! I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through, although I have a tiny idea, I had a scary moment when I was pregnant with my third. She was born a healthy 8lb baby girl though. Like any first time parents, they were soo excited! My heart aches for them! If your reading this and believe in the power of prayer, please say a prayer for this young couple!!

We don't have much on for this week. Noah and daddy built a rocket today out of things found in the house, and one of the smaller boxes from our new table. So I think this week we are going to talk a little about rockets! Girls might not be too thrilled, but oh well!

Chow for now!

They won a game!!

We had yet another busy saturday, 2 soccer games to go to! The first one was Noah and Alexa, I think that game was a tie. And Emmalee had a game at 2:50, and as you an tell by the title of this post, THEY WON!! 1st game out of 7!! There record is now 1-6! They played really well again, and it finally paid off!

We had a busy day in between the games and after aswell. We bought a new kitchen table, and then went to Costco and bought groceries and a pedestal sink!! You should see our basement...it is FULL of forts!! In other words, it's full of very large boxes!! I wish that our bathroom was done already, but nothing has been done since Sunday...sigh

Our one and only son is going to be 7 in less than 2 weeks! It is wild, 7 just seems so much more older than 6. I can see changes every day in him. He's growing up so fast! Hubby has the day off and one of our traditions for birthdays is that we get to go out to a restaurant of their choice, and on Noahs birthday we go bowling! I'm looking forward to a fun day, a day not to worry about school or renovations!

Off to get children ready for bed, have a great weekend!

We are still in need of a plumber, hubby needs to sit down and phone some places. Our tub, tub surround and toilets are all sitting in our basement!! We have a good friend who supposedly does plumbing, so he will get a phone call from hubby this weekend I'm sure! Maybe we will have lunch guests on Sunday!?

New Glasses!!

Well, after a long wait and weeks of answering 'pretty soon', we finally received our new glasses!! Emmalee, Alexa and moi all got new specs!! This is Alexa's very first pair of glasses! Emmalee had them before, just never wore them often! I also got new frames, not sure if I like them as much as I liked my others...when I get used to them maybe I will post a pic. They aren't a drastic change, unlike Em & Lex!

I stamped a card last night, it was the CC and the SC for this week on SCS!! I'm not too sure if I'm liking these colours all that much, but I do like the layout and the little details I added to the card!! I used Emmalee's new stamps she got for christmas!!

Yesterday I tried doing some excersises on my new excersise ball, and I hardly did anything, but I guess it was more than my body was used to, cause I'm stiff today! I didn't even think I was doing it right! Maybe I will try some more today....maybe! I did however get on the treadmill yesterday!! It was good and I'm helping the south win!! North vs South check it out, you have the chance of winning a $2,000 in motion fitness voucher! Post your progress each day!!

Have a great day!!

Tooth-less

Our 5 year old daughter has just lost her 7th tooth, and 2nd one in less than 24hrs no less. She's a tooth loosing machine, seriously, I think the first tooth she lost was when she had just turned 4. Emmalee, 9 has lost 8, Noah almost 7 has lost 8....and there 5 yr old sister is right behind them in the toothless grin department. The tooth fairy is running low in funding, in fact...she's very forgetfull too. This morning...Alexa woke up and promptly came upstairs to tell Noah that there was no money. She looked under her bed, under her pillow, Nothing...so I said I would come help look ;) They went ahead and I grabbed a twoonie from my purse and off I went. This isn't the first time that I had to come and make sure the tooth fairy didn't forget, and that they just didn't look hard enough.....So anyways, the twoonie was found, and all was good!! Funny thing about when Alexa lost her tooth last night, I was exchanging some pants at Costco and had come out to get the recipt from Michael, and he was parked about 5 rows away and I could hear this screaming...Come to find out when he pulled up, it was Emmalee screaming cause she had accidently knocked out Alexa's tooth....yikes, that girl can scream.

We went bathroom shopping last night, and purchased some bathroom essentials, like the tub, and toilet ;) It was fine, shopping with little kids isn't fine, and acctually I hate it. I think I expect too much from them. They are kids, and they aren't interested in toilets, and bath tub all that much...I dunno.

Here is a picture of the bathroom almost gutted...I wish I knew how to type on the picture. Behind where the tool box is will be a tub (under the window) On the Left hand side will be a pedestal sink, and there will be a new toilet. New gyproc, and paint, and floor also a pocket door!! It's going to look good. I will keep you posted. I don't have a before pic :( We are in the process of finding a plumber. If you know anyone, let us know ;)

Well, off for now, have a great week. This week is turning cold here, normal temperatures I suppose.

What a Fun Day!

We all had a great day today! We started it just relaxing at home, I got to stay in bed till 9:45, listening to all the commotion out in the kitchen! It was nice!
Emmalee played her second game of her soccer tournament. They played well and they had fun!

The lost both of there games, but considering how many shots on goal the other team had, the scores were relatively low!

1st game 7-2

2nd game 6-0

After the game we all went to Costco because my parents wanted to look for something there. We got a few things, glasses, bathing suit for Em, pants for Noah, pants for Michael and socks for all!!
After we got home Michael, Noah and Michael's two brothers and nephews all went to a Regina Pats game. So, it was a little girl time! We had a small supper, then went shopping!! We shopped around Wal-Mart for a little bit, came home and had a little 'slumber party'! It was alot of fun, while we were shopping I let the girls pick a new nail polish, and when we got home we did our hair,

painted nails,

And had a little photo shoot!!

Now it is quiet mommy time!!

Renovations

Hubby and I are going to attempt another major renovation in our house soon! We are gathering supplies slowly, and I am going to take some before, during and after pictures to post someday. We are renovating our bathrooms! Looking farward to having new updated colours, and fixtures and furniture! Last night we went and purchased some lino. The 2 upstairs bathrooms will be the same lino, and the downstairs one will be different. I'm looking forward to a refreshing change!

If I get around to stamping today, I will post it later! Been a little side tracked this morning. Here is a link to my card gallery on SplitCoastStampers ADK GALLERY.

This is my contribution to this weeks Color Challenge on SplitCoastStampers (SCS for short)

I just hafta say...

I did go skating yesterday!! Yep, I laced them up, and walked slowly to the rink, and placed the slippery blades onto the sheet of slippery ice, and clung to the boards 75% of the time!! You can stop laughing now...lol Don't worry, I'm laughing too! Seriously, it was bad. I'm not fond of skating. A little background....when I was twelve, I was skating backwards in the rink in my hometown, and I stumbled and broke my right ankle! So, I am a little leary about skating...and being 29, it is a harder fall than when I was 12!!!

Speaking of being 29....I can't believe I'm going to be 30 this year. I was talking to my third child the other night while I was putting her to bed, and we were talking about things happening this year, and I teared up when I said I was going to be 30. Age has never bothered me, it's just a number, that's all it has been to me. I've been married for 11 years, so that makes me 18 when I got married...I still feel like I am 18....seriously! My life changed sooo much when I met my husband, it was such a life changing time in my young life. (ok, I used the word life too much in that sentance, couldn't think of anything else, sorry) So, that is why I feel like I am still 18. I probably act like it too, which isn't always good. I'm trying to think of the word Oprah uses when she talkes about a time in your life that changed for you, defining moment I think. It was a defining moment for me. My 18th year. As I think back now to those times, I am teary eyed, a time in my life, before my 18th yr, I don't care to ever go back to. I had great parents, and I thank God for them. Without them and HIM, I doubt I would be here today writing this in my blog. Another defining moment for me (I'm about to open up here) was when I was 15 I think, I was in my parents basement bathroom, with a razor blade in my hand....crying, and crying out to God, and I heard Him say to me, loud and clear "Wait till you see your husband and children" At the time that's what I was focusing on, my future! High School is such a HARD time, especially hard in a small town school when the class size is 22, and they know EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING.

Anyways, enough about all that nonsense. Today is a beautiful day, and I love life, my life, and all that surrounds me in my life!! (again with the word life, sorry)

I'm going to try to see if I can find a wedding photo of my hubby and I! Nope, I can't find one! So, here is one of us at 10yrs of marriage!!
Sorry for any spelling mistakes....

And School begins again!

We started school today! Kids have been doing well, and I am realizing I hate math again. Sigh...And it's only grade three math! Yikes!! I'm sooooo very thankful that my hubby is awesome at math! He will be doing the majority of it starting soon I think! ;) This kids are playing so well again, these last few days it seems as though there was alot of squabbling, little ones, but it was getting very annoying! So, now that we are back to a bit of a schedule, it's all good!

Today is gorgeous here, high of +4!! Right now as I type this it is a little past 11, and it is 0 now outside! I think the kids will be going out this afternoon for some play time in the snow! And when there daddy gets home, they will go skating I think, maybe I will too....shhhh, don't tell anyone ;) I'm just thinking about it, only because it isn't cold ;)

I stamped a card last week, I needed to stamp!! Of course it looks much better in person!

I dyed the brown ribbon myself! AmyR from SCS gives a great tutorial! Ribbon Dying. It was so much fun! I tried a technique I've never done before, called spotlighting. I'm thinking I need to stamp again soon!!

Hope you have a great day!

Happy New Year!!

Hope you had a great New Years Eve. We had a busy day yesterday, but so much fun!

Emmalee turned 9 yesterday!! Happy Birthday Sweety Bum! So we went to church, then home for a tiny bit, then out to lunch at Boston Pizza (her choice) then we went to a movie of her choice aswell, Happy Feet! It was so cute! Got a little on the long side, but kids enjoyed it, and sat pretty well considering. My 3 yr old was getting a little antsy, but so was I! LOL

Then we had a nice quiet evening, for the most part with 4 kids running around. This was the first year since hubby's dad passed away that his mom wasn't here for new years, and it was her very first new years alone at her home. Hubby's dad passed away 5 yrs ago, and ever since then she has been here celebrating with us. I kinda missed having her here. (shhhhh, don't tell anyone)

All the kids tried to stay up till midnight, Breanna crashed just before 10:30, Alexa was a short time later. Emmalee (birthday girl) stayed up till 11:20. Noah made it till midnight!!!! Did better than his daddy!! He fell asleep off and on till midnight! Although he was awake when the count down began!

We had alot of yummy food, cheese ball, mozza sticks, veggie spring rolls, cream puffs, chocolate covered almonds, mixed nuts, guacamole chips...it was good! We also had some sparkling grape peach drink later on in the evening! One of the kids said it was the best supper ever...hahaha

Today, laundry and maybe skating or sledding later. We'll see! Have a good one!!
