let the renovations begin

Well, minor renos, painting! We started with our bedroom, the master, the play room, whatever you want to call it, it hasn't been painted for over 12 yrs. Sad, really sad. But we put the needs of our family first and focused on the kids rooms. They look lovely, now it is time to spice up, or spruce up the momma and papa's room!! I can't wait to see the results. We are trying to live in it while we paint, so that makes it fun! Two walls at a time!! We are also expecting a new bed to arrive anyday now, so that will make it even more funner!! Is funner even a word, well, it is today! I will post some pictures soon, I took before ones, and I will take after ones, and post them all together I think, in one post.

We had some overnight guests on the weekend, and enjoyed the visiting! I enjoy having people over, even if I stress a bit during the week with cleaning, and figuring out what to make for meals, I have fun! We had homemade stew and biscuits for supper on Saturday, and Sunday morning before church, I made for the first time (and not the last), quiche! It turned out really good, and everyone loved them (except of course my picky eaters)!

Well, spring came and went!! Seriously, on March 20th, it was officially spring, and what a beautiful few melting days we had....and then winter had to come back, and it hasn't left. Seriously, anytime Spring, winter has been harsh to us, and we need you!! Temperatures have been hovering around the -10 mark for the last few days. With wind and snow, and the meltings of last week, it's a mess out there, alot of ICE under all that fresh snow. It could be worse I guess, we could live in Nova Scotia....

We are looking forward to a little get-a-way soon! To celebrate some birthdays! We stayed at a hotel in Medicine Hat a few yrs back, and Breanna just loved the water slide, it is great for little kids! So we are going to go back and just have a break for a few days! It will be nice!

I hope to share some pictures soon!

Still waiting for proof!!

***Edited 5pm***
The picture came today!! And Charity, I should have checked my email while you were still here, cause it was in my inbox while we were watching that video on the computer....

The picture hasn't come yet, so I may have to email them again.....Doesn't surprise me though, this is the government we are talking about....haha

We have a busy few weeks ahead, and I'm looking forward to every part of it! We have a few birthdays, including mine, which I happen to be working in the church nursery the day of my birthday. We are taking a little trip to one of the families favorite hotels, in Medicine Hat, and we are going to be painting our bedroom and whole main floor. We've lived in this house for 12 yrs now, and have not painted the hallway or the living room. Every other part of the house has been painted cept those two areas. Well now it the time, I'm getting tired of the tired looking walls, time to sprucen it up!! Most likely with a colour called Ashwood, and out bedroom, still trying to decide if I should paint 2 walls ashwood and 2 walls the velvety merlot. Or if I should paint 3 walls ashwood and 1 wall velvety merlot. Sigh...I hate making major decisions like that...any suggestions?? Should I paint all 4 walls velvety merlot and forget the ashwood? We love the velvety merlot! And I do love the ashwood too.

Check them out if you wish, it is just a little colour swatch. Sorry bout that. (you'll have to type the name in, sorry)

Ashwood

Velvety Merlot

Let me know what you would do?

Also, since writing this blog this morning, I've obsessed even more over paint colours, and have picked a whole bunch of new ones, I'm beginning to like picking colours! I used to hate it!!

What a weekend!

We recently went to the provincial home school convention this past weekend, and we arrived a day early to have some time for ourselves. The next morning my hubby had gone down to the gift shop early in the morning to see if they had a hair brush, cause I forgot mine, and I had just had a shower. On the way back up in the elevator there was someone else going up as well. It was one of the Prime Ministers guys, all dressed up in what you'd expect them to be dressed up ( in suits and they even had the ear piece in with the coiled cord going into their jackets!) He said to hubby, "You can tell your friends you stayed in the same hotel the Prime Minister did"

He came and told me this, at first I didn't believe him, but then immediately though we need to go, downstairs, and stalk the entry way, and wait for him to leave. We were going out anyways, to go shopping, so off we went. After a few minutes of waiting and seeing no action, we decided to go have breakfast, and hope that he didn't leave in the meantime. After we were done, we came back and all his 'goons' were still hanging around, and looking a little more aware than before. So we assumed the PM must be coming. And he did!! I saw him walk out of the elevator into the vehicle waiting for him. There were about 6 or so black vehicles, and a police car on either end of the motorcade.

We didn't think we'd see him again all day, but his peeps were still hanging out, so we assumed he was still there.

After we registered for the convention, we met up with some friends and went to the restaurant in the hotel. They had a buffet for lunch, the guys partook in that, and me and my friend ordered off the menu. After we ordered, there was a big group of people walking towards the restaurant, all dressed in suits. It was the Prime Minister himself, with all his guys (probably 6-8 guys or more) and they were entering the restaurant. They were seated off towards the back, and after a minute or so, they got up to enter the buffet line! My husband was at the buffet at the same time, and didn't even notice until he came back to sit down and we told him. It was all so surreal.

After about 25 minutes or so, people started going over there and shaking his hand and talking to him. And the guys at our table went to go as well, but were told after they got to the line, that he was still eating, and there would be time after to talk to him. Well, we waited, not long either, we had time before our first session started. And then he was on the move again. The guys got up and went to shake his hand, and were on their way back to our table when this guy said "Hey Mike" And it was an old high school friend who graduated with my husbands younger brother. He's the Director of Communication for the PM. Hubby called me over and he introduced me. Then he asked if we wanted our picture taken with the PM, we never had a chance to say yes or no, we shook the PM's hand again, and the guy from high school told the PM that they went to the same school, the PM was trying to think of this other guy that he worked with from the town where my hubby is from, and the picture was taken...and off he went, shaking more hands!

Wild, and surreal!! They gave us a card to have the picture emailed to us, so we are waiting for it to be sent! I do however really regret not taking a second and asking the PM if our friends could have their picture taken with him as well. My husband later the next day says he wished he would have asked "Boxers or Briefs?" Goof!

Anyways, that's the rest of the story!!
